Welcome! Who Are 123Cryptos?

Updated: May 24, 2023

Thanks for making it to our first blog!

Did you stumble across it, hear something extraordinary in the podcast, or perhaps just eager to know more about us?

Whichever it is, we are happy to have you. And by we, we mean Rhys and Chris.

Before we get into the background of the two of us, let's discuss what 123Cryptos is and why it exists.

We love Bitcoin

It's probably worth getting that out in the open now. We're both very passionate when it comes to talking about Bitcoin because we believe it has the potential to change the lives of many people for the better. We know, big statement.

For the reasons above, we wanted to create a website that could educate people on Bitcoin and the wider cryptocurrency space as a whole. Cryptocurrency has its complexity which puts people off taking the time to understand it.

It doesn't even have to be cryptocurrency. Too many things in general are often explained in a complicated and unnecessary way. We believe all things, including crypto, can be learnt simply.

This is how we do it

We do this effectively by giving you complete transparency. Over the last 10 years, we have gained an immense amount of knowledge and understanding. Now we want to share our experience and insights. We're not financial advisors. We are on a mission to educate whilst cutting out the jargon and boredom. The website has a range of engaging material for you to enjoy at your own leisure.

Hopefully that gives you an overview on what we're all about. If you would like to know 3 specific things you can get out of 123Cryptos, click here.

Who Are We

You may have noticed 'Who Are We?' from the About Us page. There is meaning to it beyond just our name and photo.

Who Are We? represents the way we want to come across when educating and sharing our thoughts and perspectives. We are just two regular people sharing our knowledge and understanding for Bitcoin, money and, technology in an enthusiastic and engaging way.

The two of us don't say things for the sake of it without any real thought or reflection. The time spent learning about crypto started nearly a decade ago. We have witnessed a lot of things both good and bad. It therefore makes us very proud to be able to share what we have learnt with you, as well as make your journey as enjoyable as it can be.

My journey began when I was driving my car listening to the radio. I heard a new report that silk road (an illegal marketplace for drugs) had been shut down and Bitcoin was being used for purchases. The price of Bitcoin took a large tumble but some previous investing experience got me thinking about how these times can be good to buy an asset.

When there is fear in a market there is opportunity. My thought process was “maybe Bitcoin has nothing to do with the illegal market place and the technology will continue to improve and gain wider adoption”

I started learning about Bitcoin around this time in 2013, consuming all the content I could find and began to purchase Bitcoin towards the end of the year. In 2014 I sold all my bitcoin which was around 96 and worth about £10,000 at the time so I could focus on my business.

I’ve been involved with eCommerce since I was 15 when I started to dabble on eBay. I started my first website when I was 18 but it wasn’t until 2014 that I started RGIFTS Limited which has since reached just shy of 6 million in annual turnover.

Over the years I was in and out of learning more about crypto and buying some from time to time. I dabbled with Bitcoin and a few other coins but eventually ended up owning just Bitcoin once I learned more and more about the industry.

Fast forward to 2020 when covid struck and I found myself looking for where I could store a large cash balance that my business has built up. I wasn’t sure if banks would be impacted and if our money was safe. I went down the rabbit hole of learning about gold, and the history of money and expanded my knowledge around Bitcoin.

I ended up splitting the cash between Bitcoin, gold and a mix of commercial and residential property.

The more I learned the more I wanted to share my experience and knowledge with others, I found myself spending hours a week discussing this new passion for money and Bitcoin and repeating the same thing over and over, most of the time boring the hell out of people and so 123Cryptos.com was born. A way for Chris and I to collate our knowledge in one place. Instead of rambling on about bitcoin 24/7 I just give family, friends, and new people I meet a link to our course.

Firstly, I am really happy to be part of 123Cryptos with Rhys. This is a project we have been working on for almost a year, so to get it started now is really exciting.

I am a 25 year-old from Cardiff, Wales. My passion lies with sport, travel and finance/investing.

My journey to discovering Bitcoin started in my final year at University as I looked for new ways to invest and make money.

I studied Business at University and have always been interested in business, maths, and money.

With a little bit of savings, my attention turned to YouTube where I listened to popular financial education channels such as Andrei Jikh and Graham Stephan.

It was from here that I came to understand the basics of crypto, and in particular, Bitcoin.

By this point, it was near the end of 2020 and I dabbled into a small amount of Bitcoin and Ethereum. What I didn't realise at the time was that I got myself involved into the crazy circus of crypto, during the roaring stage of the bull market.

It must be said, waking up and looking at your phone to see 5% increases almost daily was pretty wild and absurd. But that is crypto.

In between the hype of a raging bull market, I spent hours on Clubhouse and Twitter spaces trying to learn more about Bitcoin. I bought The Bitcoin Standard after multiple recommendations on Clubhouse, which did not disappoint. I was pretty blown away and quickly realised Bitcoin was something special.

Despite the dump in price, my passion for Bitcoin only grew and it led me wanting to find other people that shared this desire. In comes Rhys.

I love learning and talking all things Bitcoin and once I found Rhys, there was an immediate connection. As Rhys explained his plans for an educational website, I knew I wanted to be a part of it.
